Encountering technologies that connect us

A leader in contemporary culture, NCM, the National Communication Museum, curates tech-led, human-centric exhibitions that decipher the codes of tomorrow. It is a place of truth for the knowledge-seekers, communication enthusiasts and tech savants among-us.

Located in Hawthorn in a refurbished telephone exchange, the museum explores complex themes of identity, surveillance, and disinformation. Displays of curious artefacts are cleverly curated alongside responsive AI installations and interactive robotic arms—It’s both an homage to Australia’s telecommunications past, and a narrative of cutting-edge depictions on what will connect us in the future.

The brand draws inspiration from communication mediums of the past, juxtaposing these elements with a contemporary design aesthetic. Expanding, flexing, and cropping across each application with boldness and confidence, the brand pushes the parameters of legibility and connection. Supported by a design system that is flexible and adaptive, NCM leans into the inherent characteristics of the brand typeface, structuring and creating brand continuity for exhibitions that are as interesting as they are diverse.
