Welcome back to the Isolation Diaries, our weekly round-up of the things that bring us joy, keep us creatively motivated and help us unwind. What have you been up to?
This week, we’re escaping our own lives and living someone else’s: Learning all about the trials and triumphs of hilarious journalist Dolly Alderton. Neil Gaiman fans will know he’s always been inspired by ancient mythology. Do Marvel fans know much about the stories of the Norse Gods? We don’t know. We’re genuinely asking. But Gaiman’s collection of myths retold is definitely worth a read. For those who missed it, there’s a journalistic issue that needs our attention.
It’s the docu-drama everyone is talking about right now. The Social Dilemma is an eye-opening must-see for users of social networking platforms. An intelligent, resourceful young woman who challenges social norms (who also happens to be the little sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes), played by Milly Bobby Brown? Count us interested. We’re celebrating the life of Joe Strummer with this amazing compilation of never-before-seen show footage, special performances and testimonials.
We’re still working on our skills as baristas… Though, we can’t say things have improved much there. We look forward to visiting you again soon, cafés—We’ll never take you for granted again. In Melbourne we’re gearing up for some warmer weather (hopefully soon) with popcorn gelato, as we scour through the many recipe books purchased in lockdown to find menu ideas suitable for a moveable feast. And, of course, track down the perfect carrier to move it in.
Brought to you by the organisers of Pitch and Let Them Eat Cake festivals, Novel is a directory and streaming service that delivers some of the best live sets. You can become a patron for exclusive content. We’re making our way through the albums of DJ Kicks. Notable stand-outs include Motor City Ensemble, MoodyMan and John Talabot. A new addition to the ‘Dear Tommy’ project, which has a wild ride of a backstory, we’ve been absolutely loving this track from Chromatics.
